Health Information Services (HIS)

HUGHP is always working to ensure we are not only providing our members with excellent benefits but also access to exceptional care. This begins with a close-knit partnership with our providers and services within our flagship clinical practice, Harvard University Health Services (HUHS). We work closely with many of the departments within HUHS, which includes the Health Information Services team. When we recently asked Allison Bidgood, the Director of Health Information Services/Medical Records & Privacy Officer, to describe the services offered by her department and how it serves HUGHP members, she responded with the following:

Health information Services (HIS) plays an important role in the delivery of care to our HUGHP patients. The HIS team supports our patients and their providers by focusing on the collection, maintenance, and protection of all medical information.

HIS manages the timely and accurate requests for information from our patients, medical providers, and insurance companies. Continuing care documents sent to HUHS from outside providers are scanned into the electronic medical record to ensure the HUHS providers have the most up-to-date medical information about their patients. In addition, HIS is the resource for helping patients set up Patient Portal accounts and answering Patient Portal questions.

Health Information Services is located off HUHS’s first-floor lobby, behind the reception desk. We are available Monday- Friday, 9 am-5 pm EST, or by calling (617) 495-2055.  The HIS staff can assist you with your medical record needs or questions.
